Marie Velton
Marie Velton, 96, of Joplin, passed away at 8:55 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2002 at a Webb City health care center after an illness.
Born on October 13, 1905 in Joplin, she was the daughter of the late Lincoln F. King and Audra Howey King and lived in Joplin most of her lifetime. A homemaker, she was also a sales clerk for the former Christman’s Department Store. A member of Forest Park Baptist Church, she taught the Adult Women’s Sunday school class for 40 years.
On November 22, 1945 she married Ted Velton. He preceded her in death on October 10, 1975. A brother and five sisters also preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Allen of Webb City, Mo., Peggy Morgan of Sonoma, Calif; three grandchildren, Dean Morgan, Matt Allen and Julie Allen; one great-granddaughter, Rachael Allen. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parker Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Russell Ball officiating. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Mortuary. |
