Obit-Text* | ADOLPH STODDEN Funeral services for Adolph Stodden, 78, were held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, last week at the Pettigout funeral home and St. Mary's church at 10 a.m., at Galena, Ill. The Rev. Paul Tuchlinsky, pastor, officiated and burial was in St. Mary's cemetery. Mr. Stodden died Monday at Cuba City, Wis. He was born July 6, 1876, in Germany, a son of Matthias and Gertrude Stodden. He came to this country and on Jan. 31, 1899, married Cora Belten. He farmed in Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois. He operated the Sunrise dairy in Mapleton before moving to Illinois. Surviving are his wife; five daughters, Marie Stodden of Louisburg, Wis., Eleanor Stodden, Leona Stodden and Mrs. Jack Folks, all of Galena, and Mrs. Earl Monroe of Chicago; five sons, Francis of Kingsley, Ia., Leo and Bernard of Galena, Fred of Smithland, Ia., and Leroy of Muscoda, Wis; 25 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; one brother, Andrew, of Mapleton and a sister, Mrs. Kate Goerdus of Carroll, Ia. |
