He was the son of Ulysses Grant Owen and Alice (?) 
Mlt WW I draft reg*The first World War I draft registration on 5 June 1917 required men between the ages of 21 and 31 to register and therefore included men born between June 5, 1886 and June 5, 1896. John Patrick Owen registered for the draft on 7 March 1918 in Joplin, Jasper County, Missouri. He apparently filed his registration late from Winnipeg, Canada, giving Joplin, Missouri as his home address. The registrtaion was recorded in the Joplin board records. At the time, he was 23, single, and employed by his father Samuel on the family farm outside of Joplin. The clerk described him as being of medium height and build, with dark grey eyes and dark brown hair.2 
Marriage*John married Neva Agnes Shireman, daughter of Mikle Thomas Shireman and Mary Catherine Fritz, on 9 January 1923 in Joplin, Jasper County, Missouri. They were married by E. H. Cullison, a Justice of the Peace. Neva's mother signed an affidavit allowing her to marry, since she was under the legal age.3 
Census 1930*Jack was listed as the head of household on the 1930 Census recorded 24 April 1930 in Joplin, Jasper County, Missouri. The official date of this census was 1 Apr 1930. Also living in the household were his wife, recorded as Neva Owen (given age 26), his son, recorded as Edward Owen (given age 6), his daughters, recorded as Evelyn Owen (given age 4). They lived at 2910 East Ninth Street in Joplin. Patrick was employed as a day laborer.4 
Death*John died on 19 April 1968 in Falfurrias, Brooks County, Texas, at age 73.1,5 
Burial*He was buried on 22 April 1968 in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, located in Joplin, Jasper County, Missouri
