Life Events

Occupation*Joseph was a stone mason in Werschau, Limburg-Weilburg, Hessen-Nassau, Germany
Biography*Joseph and his family immigrated to America in 1867 after the death of his wife in 1864. Family lore says she was reluctant to make the move earlier. They arrived in New York in July of that year, bound for Ohio, but found themselves stranded without sufficient money to travel. Joseph Höhler was a nephew of Joseph Miller, who sent funds and took the Höhler family into his home in Reed until they became settled in the area. The surname was anglicized to Hahler and has been consistently spelled that way through the generations.
Marriage*Joseph married Catharina Muth in Werschau, Limburg-Weilburg, Hessen-Nassau, Germany
Birth*Joseph Hahler was born on 18 August 1827 in Werschau, Limburg-Weilburg, Hessen-Nassau, Germany.1
He was the son of Johann Höhler and Maria Anna Müller
Death*Joseph died on 25 October 1905 in Norwich Township, Huron County, Ohio, at age 78.2
Burial*He was buried in St. Sebastian's Cemetery, located in Bismarck, Sherman Township, Huron County, Ohio.2
