Life Events

Biography*At the time of his marriage in 1739, Caspar lived in Nanzweiler, but married Maria Margarethe Geimer of Dietschweiler. His sister, Sara, married Maria Margarethe's brother, Daniel, in 1742.
Birth*Johann Caspar Velten was born circa 1 March 1701 in Dietschweiler, Kusel, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. In the death record, age at death in 1780 is given as 81, making the year of birth approximately 1699. However, no baptism record is found for 1699, but a record for a Joannes Caspar, born to Nikolaus Felten and Francisca, is found in the entries for 1701. It seems likely that Nikolaus and Francisca were the parents of Caspar, father of Stephan Velten. The baptism record for Caspar indicates he was born in Dietschweiler. His date of birth is estimated from the baptismal record. In these villages, baptisms typically happened from one to two days after the date of birth.

This baptism entry is followed shortly by another entry for a child born to a Joannes Caspar Felten, who was a godparent of this Caspar according to the baptism record. It appears that Caspar's father, Nikolaus, had a brother, Joannes Caspar, namesake to this Caspar, living in the same village.1,2
BaptismHe was baptized on 2 March 1701 in Catholic Church, located in Glan-Münchweiler, Kusel, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. His godparents and namesake were Joes. Casparum Fellen, Joes. Nicolaus Klein, Appolonia Börsler, all of Nanzweiler.2
He was the son of Nikolaus Velten and Anna Francisca Nofeller
(godparent) BaptismJohann became Johann Caspar Moll's godparent at his baptism on 8 August 1723 in Catholic Church, located in Glan-Münchweiler, Kusel, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany.3
Marriage*Johann married Maria Margaretha Geimer, daughter of Johann Jakob Geimer and Anna Barbara Schermann, on 16 August 1739 in Catholic Church, located in Glan-Münchweiler, Kusel, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany.4
(father) BaptismAs Johann Stephan Velten's father, Johann presented him at his baptism on 24 October 1739 in Catholic Church, located in Glan-Münchweiler, Kusel, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany.5
(named for) BirthCaspar Kohl was named after Johann circa 17 October 1749 in Nanzweiler, Kusel, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany.6
(godparent) BaptismJohann became Caspar Kohl's godparent at his baptism on 18 October 1749 in Catholic Church, located in Glan-Münchweiler, Kusel, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany.7
(named for) BirthJohann Caspar Geimer was named after Johann circa 14 May 1755 in Nanzweiler, Kusel, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany.8
(godparent) BaptismJohann became Johann Caspar Geimer's godparent at his baptism on 15 May 1755 in Catholic Church, located in Glan-Münchweiler, Kusel, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany.9
