He was gored by a steer while helping his nephew, Albert Miller, unload a railcar of western cattle in the rail yards in Attica. He later died of his injuries, which included a fractured skull, at Willard Municipal Hospital.8,2,3

Birth2Conflicting evidence states that George was born on 16 June 1874 in Huron County, Ohio. On his World War I draft registration form, George gave his date of birth to be 16 Jun 1874, a year earlier than the date recorded in the Huron County birth records. 1875 is the year used on his tombstone and is believed to be the correct year of birth.2 
He was the son of George John Schwartz and Elizabeth Miller
Marriage*George married Rosa Cecelia Daniels, daughter of John Daniel and Regina Ruth, on 8 February 1900 in St. Sebastian's Church, located in Bismarck, Sherman Township, Huron County, Ohio.3 
Census 1900*George Swartz (given age 24) was listed as the head of household on the 1900 Census recorded 7 June 1900 in York Township, Sandusky County, Ohio. The official date of this census was 1 Jun 1900. Also living in the household were his wife, recorded as Rosa C. Swartz (given age 22), his brother, recorded as William J. Swartz (given age 21). In 1900, George and Rosa were newly married and living in York Township with George's brother, William. Both George and William worked as day laborers.4 
Census 1910*George F. Swartz (given age 34) was listed as the head of household on the 1910 Census recorded 6 May 1910 in Sherman Township, Huron County, Ohio. The official date of this census was 15 Apr 1910. Also living in the household were his wife, recorded as Rosa Swartz (given age 32), his daughters, recorded as Minnie Swartz (given age 5) and Lauretta Swartz (given age 1/12). George and Rosa were now farming in Sherman township. They were married for ten years and their two daughters, Minnie and Rosa, were living with them. Some of their neighbors included Aloys Miller, Fred Bumb, Barbara Diehm, Jacob Gerhardstein, Joseph Boos, George Daniel, Jacob Heitz, and Anthony Ruffing.5

He reported he was married and employed on his own farm in Attica. The clerk described him as of medium height and build, with grey hair and blue eyes.6 
Census 1920*George Swartz (given age 44) was listed as the head of household on the 1920 Census recorded 16 January 1920 in Sherman Township, Huron County, Ohio. The official date of this census was 1 Jan 1920. Also living in the household were his wife, recorded as Rose Swartz (given age 42), his daughters, recorded as Loretta Swartz (given age 9) and Minnie Swartz (given age 15). George and Rose continued to farm in Sherman, living with their two daughters. George's brother, Edward, and his wife Frances lived nearby.7 
Death*George died on 17 April 1951 in Huron County, Ohio, at age 75.8,9
