Dorothy F. Hahler

Dorothy F. Hahler, 83, formerly of Kennedy Drive, Willard, died Saturday evening, March 5, 2005, at Life Care Center of Wichita, Kansas, after an extended illness. She was born Oct. 29, 1921, in Willard to Leo and Ida (Fries) Strickfaden. Dorothy graduated from Willard High School in 1939. She married Clarence P. Haler on Nov. 26, 1941 in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Willard. She was a Willard resident from the time of her marriage until June 1996, when she moved to Wichita, Kansas with her daughter.

Dorothy was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Willard. She was a former employee of Pioneer Rubber Co., 4-H advisor and Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed bingo, crocheting and reading. Her special interest for many years was gathering and recording information for the family genealogies.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Paula) Moore of Concord, N.C. and Marilyn Hahler of Wichita; two granddaughters, Mrs. Franklin (Jennifer) Smith of Toledo and Laura Moore of Concord; and a sister, Mrs. Ervin (Delora) Steffen of rural New London, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Hahler on April 9, 1995; her parents Leo in 1935 and Ida in 1974; two sisters, Bertha Strickfaden in 1931 and Mrs. Herman (Marie) Diehm in 1997.

Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Secor Funeral Home, 202 W. Maple St., Willard. A Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father Melvin Verhoff and Deacon Julius Fritz officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Willard.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Alzheimer Association or the American Heart Association.
