NORWALK -- Michael H. Hay, 45, of Norwalk, died
Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at his residence, after a sudden illness.

He was born June 23, 1953, was raised in Norwalk and lived in Chicago for many years, returning to Norwalk in 1994. He was a 1971 graduate of St. Paul High School, a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Norwalk, and a graduate of St. Meinrad College in Indiana. He received his master's degree in music from Notre Dame College, Indiana. He earned a master's degree in vocals from DePaul University, Chicago.

He was a teacher at St. Paul's in Norwalk, Niles College and Loyola College, both in Chicago, and Notre Dame College in Indiana. He was a recorded and published musician in the areas of liturgical writings and music. He also taught in Marty, S.D., for the Ogala Sioux indians, was a liturgical advisor for the Archdiocese of Chicago and music editor for World Publishing Library in Chicago. He was a member of the Liturgy Committee for the Toledo Diocese and director of the 4:30 p.m. Mass choir at St. Paul's in Norwalk.

He is survived by his mother, Helen (Wise) Hay; four sisters, Mrs. Jack (Carolyn) Meyer, Mary Jo Buchanan and Mrs. Scott (Grace) Whitehurst, all of Norwalk, and his twin, Mrs. David (Marty) Nighswander of Catawba Island; two brothers, James Hay of Philadelphia and Jeffrey Hay of Columbus; 14 nieces and nephews; and one grandniece.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Hay in
1983.

A prayer service will be 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul Catholic
Church, 91 E. Main St., Norwalk, where a memorial Mass
will be 10 a.m. Monday with the Rev. David Reinhart
officiating.

Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Norwalk.
