J. Louis Velton

J. Louis Velton was born in St. Louis, Missouri, Oct. 25, 1887. He came to Peirce City with his parents, where he resided most of his life and died Oct. 10, aged 30 years, 11 months, and 15 days.
He volunteered his services to his country but was rejected at Camp Taylor in Kentucky, Jefferson Barracks and at Camp Clark at Nevada, Missouri. When classed 5G he started working in the ship yards.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Carrie Velton, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph T Velton, all of Peirce City; also two sisters, Mrs. Katie Brown, and Mrs. Minnie Gilstrap, of Gary, Indiana; five brothers, Frank, of Decatur, Illinois; Edward, of Gary, Indiana; Fred, who is with the AEF in France; and Charles and Theodore, of Peirce City.
