Birth*Daniel Velten was born on 30 April 1854 in Dietschweiler, Kusel, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany.2 
He was the son of Daniel Velten and Catherina Backes.1 
BaptismHe was baptized on 3 May 1854 in Glan-Münchweiler, Kusel, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. His godparents were Ludwig Schahn, a resident of and farmer in Dietschweiler; and Margaretha Schahn, married, of Nanzweiler.2 
Psgr List*He was listed on a passenger list on 27 March 1871 in New York, New York County, New York. He is entered on the list as Dan Velten, age 17, travelling from the Pfalz to New York with his cousins, Joh. Weidinger, age 17, and Franz Stolz, age 16.3 
Marriage*Daniel married Rose Gamel, daughter of John Peter Gamel and Anna Mary Deters, circa 1875 in St. Francis Church, located in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio
Census 1880*Dan was listed as the head of a family on the 1880 Census in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio. The official date of this census was 1 Jun 1880. Also living in the household were his wife, Rosa Velten (given age 24), his son, Alfons Velten (given age 1)., his brother-in-law, Louis Gamel They lived in a multi-family house at 122 Pleasant Street. Daniel was employed as a molder in a foundry.4 
Census 1900*Daniel Velten (given age 46) was listed as the head of household on the 1900 Census recorded 7 June 1900 in Newport, Campbell County, Kentucky. The official date of this census was 1 Jun 1900. Also living in the household were his wife, recorded as Rose Velten (given age 43), his sons, recorded as Alphonse Velten (given age 21), Frank Velten (given age 11), Aloysius Velten (given age 9) and Edward Velten (given age 1), his daughters, recorded as Emma Velten (given age 15), Emma Velten (given age 7) and Anastasia Velten (given age 4). Daniel and his family lived at 904 Isabella Street in Newport. Daniel was a pattern maker at his father-in-law's foundry. Joseph and Anna were not at home at the time of this census.5

Also living in the household were his wife, recorded as Rose Velten (given age 74), his daughter, recorded as Anastasia Maria Velten, his brother-in-law, recorded as August Gamel, his son-in-law, recorded as Clifford Appel (given age 34). Daniel and Rose lived at 904 Isabella Street with their daughter and son-in-law and Rose's widowed brother, August. Clifford was employed as a switchman for the railroad.6 
Death*Daniel died on 5 June 1932 in Fort Thomas, Campbell County, Kentucky, at age 78.1,7 
Burial*He was buried on 8 June 1932 in St. Stephen's Cemetery, located in Fort Thomas, Campbell County, Kentucky.8
