He described himself as an orphan, born 11 Jun 1892 but with no knowledge of his parents or birthplace. He was described as medium height and medium build, with blue eyes and dark hair.4 
Census 1930*Edgar was listed as the head of household on the 1930 Census recorded 25 March 1930 in Gaines, Chicot County, Arkansas. The official date of this census was 1 Apr 1930. Also living in the household were his wife, recorded as Minnie Velten (given age 31). Edgar and Minnie farmed on Jerome Road in Gaines, Arkansas. They had a boarder, Victor Meister, living with them.5

Marie Velton

Marie Velton, 96, of Joplin, passed away at 8:55 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2002 at a Webb City health care center after an illness.

Born on October 13, 1905 in Joplin, she was the daughter of the late Lincoln F. King and Audra Howey King and lived in Joplin most of her lifetime. A homemaker, she was also a sales clerk for the former Christman’s Department Store. A member of Forest Park Baptist Church, she taught the Adult Women’s Sunday school class for 40 years.

On November 22, 1945 she married Ted Velton. He preceded her in death on October 10, 1975. A brother and five sisters also preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Allen of Webb City, Mo., Peggy Morgan of Sonoma, Calif; three grandchildren, Dean Morgan, Matt Allen and Julie Allen; one great-granddaughter, Rachael Allen.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parker Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Russell Ball officiating. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Mortuary.
