Birth*Frank Karl was born on 3 November 1883 in Katymar, Bács-Bodrog County, Hungary.2,1 
He was the son of Johann Karl and Maria Schadt.1 
Marriage*Frank married Elisabeth Hengl, daughter of Martin Hengl and Maria Nuber, on 30 June 1903 in Katymar, Bács-Bodrog County, Hungary.3 
Immigration*Frank immigrated from Hamburg, Germany to the United States, arriving 12 May 1912 at Port of New York, New York County, New York. Frank travelled by himself with a small group of emigrants from Katymar. The others were destined for Wisconsin but Frank gave Michigan as his destination and his brother-in-law, Adam Feith, as his contact. At this time his wife and family remained in Hungary, but Elizabeth joined him later the same year.4 
ImmigrationFrank immigrated from Katymar to the United States, arriving 14 March 1921 at Port of New York, New York County, New York. Having established themselves in the United States, Frank and Elizabeth finally returned to Katymar to retrieve their family and bring them home to the Toledo area. They travelled with their youngest son, Henry, who had been born in the US. They departed from Le Havre on the SS Roussillon 2 Mar 1921 and arrived in New York 19 days later. This is right after World War I, so the children would have been stuck in Katymar, which became part of Serbia by this time.5 
Census 1930*Frank was listed as the head of household on the 1930 Census recorded 8 April 1930 in Riga, Lenawee County, Michigan. The official date of this census was 1 Apr 1930. Also living in the household were his wife, recorded as Elisabeth Hengl, his sons, recorded as Frank Karl (given age 23), Martin Karl (given age 21), Joe Karl (given age 18) and Henry F. Karl (given age 12). Frank and his family farmed in Riga, Michigan near Toledo, Ohio.6 
Mlt WWII draft reg*He registered for the WWII draft on 27 April 1942.7 
Death*Frank died on 10 January 1969 in Michigan at age 85.8
