Evelyn L. Velten, 87, a resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away January 5, 2011. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Lynne E. Walsh and husband Andrew, Valerie Velten of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Andrew (Drew) Walsh and wife Dana, Jennifer Espinel and husband Robert, Brian Walsh, Laura Walsh of NY; four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph in 1995. Evelyn was born February 9, 1923 in Elmont, NY to Martha Dick and William T. Green. She married Joseph Velten on August 30, 1947 and upon retirement they moved to Rio Rancho in 1978. She retired from the New York Telephone Company and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, NARFE and the American Legion Auxiliary. Viewing and visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., Friday, January 7, 2011, Daniels Family Funeral Services, 4310 Sara Road SE and Meadowlark Lane, Rio Rancho, NM. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 8, 2011, Daniels Family Funeral Services, Sara Road Chapel. Entombment will immediately follow services at Vista Verde Memorial Park.

Martin P. Velten registered for the draft 12 September 1918 in Ridgewood, Queens County, New York. At the time of registration, Martin was 40 years old, a self-employed carpenter, and married. The clerk described him as being of short stature, medium build, with gray eyes and black hair.5 
Census 1920*Martin P. Velten was listed as the head of household on the 1920 Census recorded 5 January 1920 in Ridgewood, Queens County, New York. The official date of this census was 1 Jan 1920. Also living in the household were his wife, recorded as Anna Velten (given age 37), his sons, recorded as Louis Velten (given age 16), George Velten (given age 10) and Fred Velten (given age 7), his daughters, recorded as Tessie Velten (given age 14) and Maria Velten (given age 12). Martin and family now live in Ridgewood in Queens, New York.6
