Death Follows Long Illness

     Mrs. Mary Koerper, aged 88 years, widow of Michael Koerper, died at the home of her son, Jacob Koerper, 135 Jefferson street, Saturday 11 p. m. of infirmities incidental to her advanced years. She had been a semi-invalid during the last 25 years and during the last 13 weeks had been confined to her bed.
     The deceased was born in Kael, Luxemburg, Germany, December 23, 1829. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Bartell. In her young womanhood she went to Paris, France, where she was married to Mr. Koerper. Her two eldest sons were born in that city. In 1856, the family emigrated to this country and settled in Seneca county. For many years she was a resident of Big Spring township, where her husband died about 30 years ago. Mrs. Koerper had resided with her son here during the last three years.
     The deceased was the mother of 13 children, nine sons and four daughters. Seven sons and four daughters survive. Two sons, Albert and George, were killed in railroad accidents, the former about 30 years ago on the Pennsylvania when a quantity of earth fell on him from a railroad bank, and the latter on the Toldeo and Ohio Central some years later.
     The surviving sons and daughters are Fred, Pierre City, Mo; Jacob, of this city; Henry, Liberty township; John, Chicago, Ill; Joseph, residence unknown; Frank, Sedalia, Mo; Gabriel, Detroit, Mich; Mrs. Helen Smith and Mrs. William Groenwold, of this city; Mrs. Peter Altweis, Toledo; and Mrs. Andrew Brickner, Jackson township.
     Funeral at St. Joseph's church Tuesday, 8:30 a. m; burial in the parish cemetery.
