Mrs. Catherine Velton died at 11:30 Tuesday morning, aged 83 years. Death was due to Bright's disease with which she had suffered a number of years.
Mrs. Velton was born in Coblenz, Germany, March 30, 1836, and came to America with her parents when quite young. She was married to Michael Velton in Sandusky, Ohio, May 15, 1856, amd to them were born ten children, eight of whom are living.
For several days prior to her death Mrs. Velton's condition was such that those caring for her realized that death was near and all of her children were with her when the end came, doing all that was possible for her comfort.
Funeral services were held at St. Mary's church at nine o'clock Thursday morning, conducted by Father Berthold, and burial was made in the Catholic cemetery.
The eight children surviving Mrs. Velton are as follows: J. F. Velton, Joplin; John H. Velton, Douglas, Ariz.; Mrs. C. Stodder, Mapleton, Iowa; P. A. Velton, C. D. Velton, Mrs. M. Koerper and Miss Ida Velton of this city.
